SPIRIT GUIDES AND OUR HIGHER SELF

The Bowl Lesson

Beloved, believe not every spirit, but try the spirits whether they are of God: because many false prophets are gone out into the world. 1 John – 4:1

The first question that is usually asked is why would those, in spirit, desire to work with and teach those on the earth plane. The answer is really quite simple. They know there is only one God, one consciousness. They realize that all of us, being one with this consciousness, further our own learning and progression by helping the progression of all of God's creation.

Our spirit guides are friends who have our interest at heart but there are many people who will argue, doubt and fight against this most beautiful companionship. I often hear, "I go only to God", and there is no thought of exactly how God answers our prayers. It is our belief in God and His love that draws spirit help of the highest order to us. It is often asked, "Why is it there are times when spirit leads me astray?" or, "How can I be sure that spirit has my best interests at heart?"

The answer to these questions is very simple. OUR motivation, purpose and ideals draw to us the higher or lower expressions of spirit. In a nutshell, it is we, ourselves, that draw unfortunate spirit contact which causes doubts and fears. We have no one other than ourselves to blame.

We should never expect our spirit guides and teachers to be servants and do for us what we should do for ourselves for our own unfoldment.

Now we come to a very important part of drawing the proper guidance to us. As a teacher I have found that, simple as it is, teaching an understanding of our HIGHER SELF is extremely difficult. Why? Because we are educated to deal with only the conscious or physical self and, I believe, we do the same with our God. It is our HIGHER SELF, be it good or bad, that spirit deals with. It is THRU OUR HIGHER SELF that the FORCE is supplied for those "in spirit" to work with. We must keep in mind that this force or energy is actually neutral. It knows neither good or bad. It is we ourselves who activate either the higher or lower expression of it.

I prefer to call my higher self by a name. I have used this method for years with great success. lt is now like an old and dear friend. I would be lost without it. There is a certain something within all of us that is aware of the higher self but we take no time to become acquainted with it. It is the source of our hunches, inspirations, ideas. It is really quite simple to begin to activate this link between ourselves and that which is of spirit.

Fill your thoughts with harmony, prosperity, good health, love and happiness. Now speak to your higher self as though you are speaking to an old and trusted friend. Do this mentally or otherwise, it does not matter.

Let me illustrate: "F.... , I now know you have been with me ever since I was created but, many times, I have not taken the time or made an effort to listen to you. Now I am ready to have you help me. Help me to understand what I should be doing and learning now. I know those, in spirit, are ready and able and glad to reach me thru you. Many thanks."

EXPECT A RESPONSE!!!! EXPECT the thrill of a beloved contact. Do not look for a lot of fireworks but become aware of rather subtle nudges, hunches, new ideas and inspirations. If you actually feel a presence with you bless it, welcome it, ask to become acquainted with it. You will know if it is right or not because of YOUR PURPOSE. You will begin to get a glimmer of how God’s love reaches us in a very tangible and understandable way. You will KNOW and FEEL God as you, perhaps, never did before.

The more often you do this simple exercise the more familiar it will become. Your higher self will become your friend and constant companion ready and willing to be called upon at a moment’s notice.

Give yourself a little test . . .

    1. Exactly how do I SEE God?
    2. Exactly how do I think of my loved ones who have passed away?
    3. What do I REALLY think will happen to me when I die?
    4. Is everything I believe only in relation to this physical life?
    5. If I have difficulty believing in spirit then why do I pray?
    6. Exactly what is the difference between my conscious self and my higher self?
    7. Exactly what brought about my conception of God?
    8. Exactly why do I have a problem believing in spirit as being a help and strength in what I am trying to accomplish?

      God love ya
