Have you ever considered how your spiritual structure would hold up if, tomorrow, you lost everything you hold so dear today?
What would be the most important thing for you to cling to if this happened? We all very well realize that in the crash of the 20’s there were many who had no spiritual substance to fall back on so they jumped from a window or attempted release in other ways of BODILY destruction. Perhaps they thought this would solve everything… but does it????
Let us say I injure my arm. I go to the doctor. He takes some X-rays and says, "Your arm is broken but I’ll fix it up for you."
Perhaps my stomach hurts. I go to the doctor. He might well say, "You have an ulcer so you will have to have treatment.”
But what if a loved one dies? I go to the doctor and tell him my whole being seems lost
and bewildered. Can he take an X-ray of my difficulty? Can he probe and examine and discover my difficulty? Of course not.
So we begin to recognize that there is a stronger and more all encompassing aspect of us which has nothing to do with just OUTER things. Isn’t it interesting to note that the inner grief, turmoil, envy, love, hate etc. can actually play a very important part in the well being of the BODY?
What has all of this to do with psychic development?? Why everything, of course. We see all around us those who are taking some kind of drug in order to experience some sort of transcendental experience. The stupidity of this is the putting the cart before the horse. They are approaching an experience completely on a physical level and expect the spiritual (inner experience) to be compatible with this.
I watch many in churches read prayers in such a way that it is approached on an entirely physical plane of life.
Have you ever realized that thousands of people are praying to Jesus, the Christ and they are PRAYING TO A SPIRIT!!!!
Have you ever talked to someone who has lost a very dear beloved one and discover they actually feel their loved one IS LIVING ON yet tremble in fear if there is an approach to communication.
It is time, we not only realized, but ACCEPTED the fact that the things of spirit are on a
different level of understanding than we, of the flesh, are. Yet because we of the flesh
are fundamentally spirit we must arouse this element within ourselves in order to be
COMPATIBLE WITH THAT WHICH IS OF SPIRIT. Do you begin to understand?
In order to attain this "connection” we must arouse within ourselves a desire to do this very thing so, of course, we MUST get rid of the consuming thought of everything being only of the human aspect or, we might say, of the five senses. What is so seldom realized is how easy it is to do this.
Thinking of something UPLIFTING WITHIN is one way… Not allowing thoughts of job, money, a stinker boss, a life partner who does not understand (ha!) etc.
Think of the good things in life that are not of the human aspect only but arouse an emotional uplift WITHIN. A few examples? OK… A dog’s love no matter how badly treated. The watching of a flower growing into full bloom. Quieting self long enough to hear the rhythm within the earth (Oh yes, it is there) - Watching the beginning of a sunset and taking notice of the subtle changes of color. --- Examining closely, a snow flake... Listening to the crickets in the Fall... Driving in the country at harvest time… so many things — oh, so many things… Yet these are the things that awaken, within man, an awareness of beauty, peace, eternal life and - yes - of God.
It is then the awareness of unseen Forces are felt - and I mean FELT - around us. In other words... We are opening a door for them…
Try a little experiment on your own, please…
The next time something is bugging you take a couple of minutes to WALK AWAY FROM IT. Release any thought about it… Do something for someone else (buy them a cup of coffee). Look at a flower… listen to the buzz of a bee... look at the stars…
God Love Ya
